While grabbing some breakfast down the coast at a little surf shack the other day I noticed a clear plastic bag of water hanging from a board rack.
Being an inquisitive soul, I spent the meal quietly trying to figure out why it was there – could it be some sort of counter-balance for the rack, or the previous home of an escaped goldfish. I eventually caved and asked one of the locals. To my surprise, he smiled and just said, “flies!” and walked off. Seeing my bemusement, a fellow diner lent over and explained that the strategically placed clear plastic bags full of water deter flies. Something I have never seen or heard of before… but it did seem to work.
Would anyone care to explain to me how!
