Using a wide range of media and techniques to explore my fascination for creativity, I have worked in many fields from fine art, graphic design, web design, animation, 3d modelling, visualization, product design, HCI, UX, user interface design. Before moving to Bali, I was Director of Research and Development at Jawbone. I now work mainly on product design focused on sustainability. I ran a lecture series in London at Tate Modern on computer graphics under my company Supernatural and continue to work on speech writing and presentation development. I currently use this site as a portfolio of recent projects and concepts and also home to my blog where I discuss ideas, news and areas of this great wide world that pique my diverse interests ...and yes, my real name is zissou.

Sustainability

Since moving to Bali in 2010 I have become far more deeply involved in sustainable thinking and design. I have built a bamboo home in the jungle, grow a wide range of fruit and vegetables and make a concerted effort to become more aware and considerate of nature and it's vital role in allowing us to live on this planet. John Hardy’s Green School at TED Global

Every year visionaries, thinkers, and activists from a variety of fields are invited to present their ideas to the world through TED Talks. This past July, Green School’s Founder, John Hardy was asked to speak at TED about Green School, receiving a standing ovation. I am honoured to have added my small part to this amazing project. I have a particular fascination with work environments, especially craft areas that produce products I use. One of the most elegant manmade forms has to be the surfboard and this is where the magic goes down at Deus in Bali.

Launching at the height of the recent financial bubble in 2007 by Tyler Brȗlé (of Wallpaper fame), it managed to weather the storm unlike so many other printed publications and has gone on to expand into newsprint format, opened tiny stores across the globe and has collaborated with highly respected brands on toiletries, accessories, luggage and even bicycles. For me, they have excelled for the same reason Apple have – in terms of design and marketing, they shoot high and sweat the details.

One of my earlist memories of a gadget was sneaking in to my parents room one morning. My Dad had just got back from an assignment in Japan (I think) and had just got up and was in the bathroom. On his bedside table was something I hadn’t seen before. It was black, had lots of buttons and a digital screen. I wanted one.

Had lunch with the gang at the bamboo factory today – It has to be some of the best food served at any factory on earth – tempe, tofu, curried egg, sambal, beans in peanut sauce and wild rice – all produced within a few feet of the kitchen. Amazing.
